Buying a Dyson Vacuum

How To Choose The Right Dyson Vacuum

If you're looking for a high-quality bagless vacuum cleaner, the only name that really matters is Dyson. Dyson’s industry leading technology, relentless quest for better design and longevity makes it the best choice for a bagless vacuum cleaner.

Why Bagless Vacuum Cleaners?

Bagless vacuums have become very popular in the last few years. They work just a like traditional vacuum, however instead of debris being collected into a disposable cloth or paper bag, it is collected in a dust cup.

Convenience has really driven consumers to bagless vacuums. As there is no need to keep up with restocking your supply of bags, consumable costs are much lower. The bagless vacuum is almost always a great option for pet owners. Dogs and cats that shed will constantly fill up bags quickly, but with the dust cup, you simple put that hair in the trash and keep on cleaning. It truly is the most cost effective way to vacuum your home.

Bagless Vacuum Maintenance

If you’ve chosen to go the bagless route, be aware that all bagless vacuums, including Dyson vacuums, require regular maintenance to keep them running properly. It’s pretty simple stuff, but you will be exposed to dirt and dust so be sure to wear a mask if you are allergic or have other respiratory issues.

Here’s a short list of the basic maintenance on any Dyson vacuum cleaner:

  • Empty the bin before it reaches the suggested capacity line.
  • Clear away any accumulated debris blocking the intake screen.
  • Wash filters every 60 days (be sure to dry completely!)

The Dyson Vacuum Models

Dyson has a wide range of vacuum cleaner models for a wide array of living spaces.

Dyson Vacuum Cleaners for Medium to Large Homes

The Dyson DC65 Animal Complete Upright

The Dyson DC65 Animal Complete is a great vacuum cleaner for large homes. A large capacity dust bin, high-powered motor and full-sized cleaning head is make it best suited for covering large amounts of square footage.

An aggressive cleaner head with two types of bristles deeps cleans carpets and traps fine dust and hair. This self-adjusting brush head will keep a tight seal to any surface for maximum suction on thick carpet or bare floors. The Dyson DC65 vacuum also comes with the extra-long pull-out hose and is packed with tools to clean all sorts of surfaces.

The handheld turbobrush is exceptional at removing pet hair on upholstery. A stiff bristle dusting brush will break up stuck on grime while a soft bristle dusting brush will delicately clean lamp shades and curtains. A combination stair and crevice tool will get into tight corners and clean your stairs. A multi angle dusting brush is superb on bookshelves and fan blades.

The Dyson DC65 Animal Upright

The Dyson DC65 Animal vacuum cleaner is also available without the “Complete” package at a lower price point. The more basic DC65 Animal vacuum is packaged with the mini-turbo brush, but other tools, such as the Stiff Bristle and Multi-Angle brush, are sold separately.

The Dyson DC65 Multi-floor Upright

The Dyson DC65 Multi-floor vacuum gives you all the great cleaning power of the DC65 Animal Complete without the mini-turbo brush or other extra accessory tools.

The Dyson DC65 Multi-floor vacuum cleaner has the same large dust bin, wide aggressive powerbrush, and self-adjusting head creates the best suction seal on any surface of your home. A basic combination crevice/stair tool will handle all the small cleaning jobs and connects easily to the pull out extra-long hose and wand.

The Dyson DC39 Multi-floor Canister

The Dyson DC39 Multi-floor canister vacuum is a good fit in large homes with low pile or looped carpeting. The Dyson DC39 vacuum cleaner comes with an extendable wand, flexible hose and a lightweight air driven turbobrush head.

The Dyson canister vacuum style is a more maneuverable option than the uprights and is ideal if you’re cleaning under and around a lot of furniture. A large dust cup keeps you on the move and strong suction motor will pick up dirt effectively.

The cleaner head, while not as wide as other Dyson vacuums, is specially designed with anti-static carbon bristles for wood floors and softer, nylon bristles for more delicate looped carpet or wool area rugs. The self-adjusting head keeps a tight seal ensuring the best vacuum performance possible on all surfaces.

The Dyson DC47 Animal Canister

The Dyson DC47 Animal is an ultra-compact canister vacuum cleaner that is easy to store and maneuver around small homes and apartments. It’s similar in style to the Dyson DC39 canister vacuum, but has a smaller carbon-fiber turbo brush that is ideal for wood floors and delicate area rugs.

Along with the floor and hand tool, the Dyson DC47 comes with straight suction upholstery tool and combination crevice and dusting brush that will fit into tighter corners and high spaces.
