Choosing the Right SEBO Vacuum

You’ve probably never heard of SEBO vacuums.  Though they are popular choice in Europe, and you may have even seen some of their ads in European home magazines, SEBO still does not advertise here in the U.S.  Instead, they rely solely on word-of-mouth recommendations among a dedicated group of independent dealers and fiercely loyal consumers who are fanatical about the brand. If you're considering buying a SEBO vacuum cleaner, read our SEBO vacuum comparison below to learn about their many features.

SEBO vacuums are best known for their reliability, durability and their outstanding power brush design.  Originally produced as a commercial-grade product for hotels, all SEBO vacuums are easy to maintain and have a life expectancy of 20-plus years in a medium-sized home. And with a 5-year warranty covering all components, you’ll be sure to rely on your SEBO for many, many years.

It’s very easy to pick out the right SEBO for your home, because nearly all SEBO vacuums use SEBO’s ET1 premium power brush that is suitable for all types of carpet.  If you have a variety of bare floors and carpets, we strongly recommend choosing a SEBO that uses the ET1 because of it’s adaptability for any flooring.

The Amazing ET1 Power Brush

SEBO’s ET1 power brush is truly a masterpiece of vacuum technology.  It incorporates rubber wheels, rubber bumper strip, bare-floor brush setting and a four-position carpet-height adjustment.  The motorized rotating brush is easily removed with just the press of a button allowing the user to clean the brush and maintain the vacuum regularly without the need for technical service.   The brush is driven by a woven nylon geared belt which is protected by a sensor that automatically turns off the motor when stressed.

The ET1 power brush is available on three SEBO vacuums:  Two canisters and one amazing upright called Felix. Both canisters and the Felix upright share many features:

  • Powerful suction (over 100 CFM)
  • S-Class hospital-grade filtration
  • Thumbtip suction control
  • On-board accessory tools
  • Natural bristle wood floor brush
  • Five-year bumper-to-bumper warranty

Both canister vacuums have some special features beyond the ones listed above:

The K3 is lightweight (only 12 lbs) and has a solid foam bumper to protect baseboards and furniture from maring.

The D4 is SEBO’s full size vacuum with foam bumper, extra large dustbag and a 40-foot power cord (yes- 40 feet!) with automatic cord rewind.

SEBO Uprights

SEBO makes two uprights we like to recommend:  the X4 and the Felix.  The X4 is a full-size traditional upright with motorized automatic height adjustment.  It will automatically raise and lower itself to exactly the right height needed for optimal cleaning of the surface it’s on.  When moving from low pile to area rugs to high pile carpet, you don’t have to make any adjustments- the X4 will always choose just the right height to clean carpets and area rugs thoroughly.

We feel the X4 is particularly well-suited to homes with mostly carpeting.  Though the cleanerhead will lower itself to properly vacuum wood floors, the brush can not be turned off.  For homes with more wood or tile flooring, we recommend the Felix.

SEBO’s Felix upright is truly unique in the vacuum world.  It combines the best of both upright and canister vacuums.  It is the only full-size upright vacuum with the ability to remove the power head and attach a natural-bristle wood floor brush just as you would on a canister vacuum.  Felix can even be customized with an extra soft brushroll for wool or looped carpet.  This makes the Felix a perfect choice for homes with multiple flooring surfaces like wood, tile and area rugs.

Felix also adapts to above-floor cleaning by way of the handy 5-foot accessory hose and optional carrying strap that turns the lightweight body into a 10-pound shoulder vac for cleaning blinds, draperies, and stairs.

SEBO vacuums are so versatile, you almost can’t go wrong in choosing any upright or canister model. There are however a couple of models that are great for bare floors and area rugs, but limited in their ability to clean wall-to-wall carpet.

Other SEBO Canisters

The K2 compact canister is suitable for only bare floors and area rugs.  The rug and floor brush and optional turbo brush are not recommended for homes with wall-to wall carpeting .
