Worked out great. I was especially appreciative of the emails telling me when the order was shipped and when I could expect it. With all of the package theft occurring in Portland it was a relief to know when to expect my order so I could make sure I was home.

Why are Miele vacuums more expensive?
One Miele lasts 20+ years vs. replacing a bagless every few years. German manufacture, sealed filtration, serviceable parts.
How long do Miele vacuums last?
Miele designs and tests the Classic C1 line to run for around twenty years in a typical home. Because the machine is meant to be serviced rather than discarded, genuine parts and authorized repair stay available well beyond the warranty, so a single vacuum can carry a household through decades of everyday cleaning.
Are they easy to maintain?
Yes, and there's no bag involved at all. The dust container releases at the touch of a button (Twist2Open) for quick, hygienic emptying, and the two-stage filter — a pre-filter plus a HEPA AirClean fine-dust filter — pulls out for an occasional rinse rather than a scheduled swap. Charging happens right on the included wall bracket, so the vacuum is always parked and topped up between uses. Day to day, maintenance is emptying the 0.5-liter dustbin after a cleaning session and giving the filter a rinse every few weeks.
How is a Miele different from a Dyson?
Both are cordless sticks now, so the difference comes down to filtration and intelligence rather than bag versus bin. The DuoFlex HX1's HEPA AirClean filter captures 99.999% of fine dust and allergens, and its MultiFloor electrobrush automatically senses hard floor versus rug and adjusts roller speed on its own, rather than requiring you to toggle modes. Miele backs it with the same engineering standard it's built its reputation on for over a century: consistent suction and parts designed to be serviced, not replaced. If filtration and hands-off floor sensing matter most to you, the Miele has the edge.
Will the DuoFlex HX1 work on my carpet?
It's best suited to hard floors and small area rugs rather than wall-to-wall or thick-pile carpet. The MultiFloor electrobrush auto-adjusts when it senses a rug, and Vortex-driven suction handles quick pickups well, but battery runtime drops to about 12 minutes on the MAX power setting with the electrobrush engaged, which is a limiting factor for a full-carpet clean. For a home with more wall-to-wall or plush carpet, a corded canister with a dedicated electric powerhead, like the Classic C1 Cat & Dog, will clean deeper and for longer.
Is it good for allergies?
Yes. The HEPA AirClean filter is standard equipment here, not an add-on, and captures 99.999% of fine dust and allergens across its two-stage system before air is released back into the room. Combined with the sealed, self-contained dust container, it makes the DuoFlex HX1 a solid choice for quick allergen pickups around the house, though its smaller dustbin means more frequent emptying in a heavily allergen-prone home compared to a bagged canister.
